The 7,000 sq m Alea Casino opened in 2008 on the banks of the River Clyde close to Glasgow City Centre. Located within the Glagow Quay complex, the overall development includes a multiplex cinema, bowling, bingo, restaurants and a hotel.
The 3-storey steel and glass exterior is dynamically set-off by the very dominant wood “wave” interior. Internal finishes and materials are bright and the modern interior offers great views across the river to the City Centre. At night the building, with the activities within, will become a beacon for the regeneration of the quayside.
The project was originally delivered by BCIdesign’s directors in Burrows Cave International and BCIdesign continue to provide design support services for this project and London Clubs International’s estate portfolio generally.
