This design was an entry for an international competition to create a symbolic landmark for the City of Buenos Aires on a former processing site for incoming migrants to Argentina.
The proposal included the relocation of the old Navy School, enabling the site to be opened up to the city creating a welcoming public square and the creation of a new waterfront skyline. The concept established main directional axes for the site with dramatic new vistas where public spaces were designed to flow from one experience to the other, from more intense, central core squares into more quiet, secluded piers.
The scheme was anchored by a landmark building at the northern end of the Puerto Madero, the PACBA or Performing Arts Centre of Buenos Aires, a cultural building that addressed the very essence of Buenos Aires, its dance legacy. The project was delivered by BCIdesign’s directors in Burrows Cave International .
